In-app billing -- skipping verification

Postby tenfour04 » Fri Sep 29, 2017 2:53 am

I'm implementing in-app billing for an app. Most tutorials I've looked at start getting into verifying purchases for security purposes.

I'm not very gung-ho about DRM, and as far as I can tell, this would only be a mild deterrent. If someone has modified the apk to spoof an IAP, can't they just replace a code stub in my app to return true for the verification method?

Basically, I'm doubting the effort of putting in purchase verification is worth my time. But are there any risks beyond pirate sites putting up copies of my app with purchases all unlocked? This happens to me anyway with all my paid apps.

Unless your gameplay happens on a server somewhere, all you can do is make things difficult for pirates. With some luck, more difficult then its worth.
