Smooth Shading

Postby hazelnut » Sat Oct 08, 2016 8:33 pm

Hello together,

i just wanted to know if it is possible to achieve gouraud-shading with the default shader and an object which was exported from Blender to fbx, converted to the g3db-format, loaded as a ModelInstance and then rendered with Modelbatch. The models are relatively low-poly.
The blender smooth shading setting would be an option but it hints only in the right direction because it doesn't look very realistic.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, the default shader uses gouraud shading (per vertex lighting). See also: https://github.com/libgdx/libgdx/wiki/M ... ult-shader

I knew these pages, that's why i'm asking. In my implementation the models always look exactly like they look in Blender, either flat shaded or smooth. So i thought i'm missing something - but its not much code up to now and it consists mainly of the demo-code i found.

Ok, after a little websearch about Blender shading issues i found the solution, so that additional editing in Blender solves the problem, and if it looks alright in Blender it seems to be fine in libGDX.
