Activate Emoji for SoftKeyBoard

On older android versions the emoji options are visible on the softkeyboard in LibGDX-Apps if a scene2d Textfield is used and I can use "textfield.setOnlyFontChars(false)" to process the input.

On newer android versions and GBoard the emojis button is greyed out in LibGDX-Apps and is not selectable. So it is not possible to receive emoji keys from the user.

Is it possible to activate the emoji-button for the standard GDX-Softkeyboard (set the input type) or simply show the full unrestricted keyboard?

The gBoard-Keyboard can apparently not be persuaded to display the emojis button while in a Scene2D textfield, at least not until writing my own textfield class.

As a workaround I use the "Gdx.input.getTextInput" method (not pretty, but tests with users seem to confirm they don't care much about the prettiness of the input method), here all buttons are visible and I can process the user input afterwards.
