Free music in a bit of a retro style

Postby Magnesus » Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:14 pm

I found a huge archive of my old music - made in Fast Tracker 2, Jezkola Buzz and on my old Roland toy-keyboard. Surprisingly some seems to be quite fit for games, especially retro games with pixel art, since it has a distinct 16-bit style. I decided to release it all on CC BY 4.0 license. You can listen to all the tracks here (with some story behind the oldest tracks) or download them below.

Feel free to use it in your project.

As "reimbursement" (haha) follow me on Spotify or other services (not much there yet, but my new electronic album is in review right now!).

I was between 16 to 17 when I made those tracks. My favourtite games at the time were Another World and Flashback which might be noticable:

http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-VISIONS4.mp3 (a bit muddy, I wouldn't use that one if I were you  )

http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-VISIONS6.mp3 (would be better without that low quality piano, sorry)
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-VISIONS7.mp3 (another slower track, might be useful as background music)
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Eternity0.mp3 (my eldest track that survived, very weird, a bit out of tune, probably not very useful)
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Eternity1.mp3 (love the melody, maybe it can find a new home in some little game...)

http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Eternity4.mp3

http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-SyntaxError.mp3 (I love this one! lost the original file though, only have the mp3)
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-TechnoBeat.mp3 (I tried to do a techno track but it's not my thing  )

And here are some newer ones:
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Lillibullero.mp3 (could be great for a tavern)
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-HappyFlutes.mp3 (also for a tavern)
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Winds-of-Venus.mp3
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Drea ... hamber.mp3
http://magory.net/assets/MagoryNET-Water-Owl.mp3 (newer version of an old track from my Forgetful Owl game, orchestral, uplifting)

I will release more in the future and post them here.

My newer music - mostly from my Android games - is now available on Spotify and other streaming services - just search for Tomasz Kucza.

Here are some links: http://magory.net/music/

If someone has a ready to go game without music, don't hesitate to contact me, I might consider doing music for your game (or finding something that matches it in among my old tracks), maybe even for free if it's something fun and short (and not exclusive, so I can reuse it in my own projects). Easiest for me (despite the music I posted above and the ones I have on streaming services) is orchestral horror music. Would love to make a soundtrack for a horror game one day.
