As my prototype becomes more and more complicated I will soon have to develop an AI for enemies in my next game. Not something too complicated, choice between 2 to 8 possible path (in order to reach a distant target, a few action choice.

I am wondering "where to start". Any one have a good reading to suggest, not too theoric would be great.

Any development pattern/architecture to suggest?
